The use of acupressure to induce labor is based on philosophy held by acupressure that states that putting pressure at specific points to reduce pain can also be used to prompt induction and beginning of labor. Acupressure to induce labor also works on that mechanism. It gives pressure to the some of the sensitive points of the body. Acupressure is done with the use of thumbs and fingers.
There are many natural ways of inducing labor but some of the natural ways too have some drawbacks. Acupressure to induce labor is a favorite with almost every pregnant woman. When the woman is giving birth to a child the first and foremost thing that she needs to keep in mind is the safety of the baby as well of herself.
Acupressure to induce labor is one of the most soothing practices and it is also the best because it has no such side effects, other remedies might have some side effects. The acupressure helps the cervix of the mother to dilute and ripen and thus makes child birth an easy process.
You can use these steps to use acupressure to induce labor. There are two effective pressure points that will help you with your contractions. The first is located between your index finger and your thumb. The webbing between these fingers is the point. Another point is about four fingers above the ankle bone, it is inside the ankle bone.
You now need to stimulate these pressure points. To do so in the first case you need to rub the webbing for at least 30 to 60 seconds in a motion which is circular. Take a break for a minute or two and then start again. You will feel the contractions taking place. For the second acupressure point, try and press the point for a while, if you are on the right spot then it will feel a bit sore.
Press it and rub the point in a circular motion. Again you will feel that with the rubbing you are having some contractions. Stop when the contractions are taking place and after it has stopped begin again. This is how acupressure to induce labor takes place. You just need to find out the correct spot.
